The advantages of our practicum training process here at Alliant International University is it allows students both the depth and breadth of practicum training. Depth, meaning that they can get graded and progressive training where they are learning more advanced skills as they progress in the program. And then the breath is the opportunity to have clinical training experiences and a lot of different types of settings with different clinical populations.
So they may train in a psychiatric hospital with more of an acute population. They may train in a forensic setting such as a prison or a juvenile hall. They may train in a University Counseling Center with college students they might train in a child and family facility. And in all of these types of practicum sites. They're supervised by licensed Psychologists. So it starts to provide them the foundational training that they need to develop into a competent psychologist when they graduate from the program and eventually become licensed.
For our doctoral programs here at Alliant, the final year of their clinical training is a full-time APA internship anywhere in the continental US. We even have students go to Alaska and Hawaii. Feedback from both of our students who are on internships and the Supervising Psychologists that these internships is that our students are uniformly well prepared. They come in with prerequisite assessment and intervention skills. And our Alliant students often stand out due to their clinical preparation.
Students come in with all different levels of clinical experience, undergraduate and even master's experience. We meet each student where they're at and help them grow and develop their clinical skills on their own training trajectory. Students feel supported while also having a lot of different opportunities to practice these clinical skills with a lot of support from both faculty and Supervising Psychologists in the community.
