PsyD in Clinical Psychology

We produce the best clinically trained students in the country. Our students from the first day they get on campus are being trained to be great Clinicians, we want everyone to have the same foundation. So that as they progress in the program, they get more opportunity to work with real people doing clinical work. And they get to branch out and take classes in the specialty area that they're interested in.

Clinical Psychology is working with people and their mental health and their mental problems, in a way to make them feel better. So in like a treatment setting, so a lot of therapy and working with people in intensive care settings or management settings.

There's two forms of hands-on learning here. The first one is with the faculty members. The majority of the faculty have their own research interests. Those faculty members have opportunities for students to join the research labs, their clinical practices, and to really do hands-on learning from an expert in their field. The second opportunity for hands-on learning is that we put you in community agencies to learn therapy from Clinicians actually doing the work in the community.

So for me, my practicum is it's called CAPS and it's a community low-income therapy group. And so I actually have my own client that I speak with, which is really exciting to be a first-year student and to be able to have that that level of responsibility and experience.

Our graduates become Neuropsychologists, Clinical Psychologists, they work in prisons, Sports Psychology, they work on TV shows -- Psychoanalysis, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, the field of clinical psychology is fairly limitless and ranges from helping companies do their advertising to working in a hospital helping people that need clinical support.
